因为口语的流利度本来就和语言的连贯性密不可分。在叙述或讨论的过程中，逻辑的清晰性，语言的连续性是流利度的主要特征之一。所以，考生若在连接词的使用上稍有疏忽，就容易造成逻辑上的混乱，从而导致对流利度的影响。由此可见连接词的意义非同一般。考生们在平时需要分类积累，反复运用，以达到习惯性运用和准确运用的目标。

2、语速过快

语速作为流利度的另一主要特征，常常被许多考生误解，导致他们在考场上竭尽所能地提高自己的语速来达到期望中的“流利度”。流利度虽然和语速相关联，但凡事过犹不及，并不是语速越快就一定越好。雅思口语考试的真正目的是沟通和交流。

3、谎言

这里的谎言有两种：一种是准备好的;另一种是临场发挥的。但不管属于哪种谎言，都存在着影响流利度的危险性。

考试前背诵一些自己事先“编好”的故事是一种很好的练习和准备方式，但要烂熟于心后运用到考试当中，好的演技和灵活的应变能力一个也不能少，否则假故事便很容易穿帮，流利度也就无从谈起了。千万不要低估了考官的观察力以及专业的评判能力。所以即使是考前分类话题的准备，回答也是真实的。遇到不熟悉的话题，考前如果有时间就亲身去经历，想办法去了解，再准备;即使是临场考到，事先毫无准备的，没有了解过的，的办法也是把它引导到自己熟悉的话题上。

4、不能省略的翻译过程

在非母语的语言还没有熟练运用到某种程度的时候，翻译的过程必不可少，而这也是影响流利度的一大因素。有时候，考生停顿或者重复着自己刚刚说过的话，就是因为在将下面所要表达的中文翻译成英文的过程中遇到障碍，还没有完全摆脱中文的束缚。事实上，很多的中文表达如果生硬地翻译成英文并不是地道的表达。所以如果还有考生现在有这样的困扰，的出路就是平时多积累，多练习，渐渐地能达到直接用英语组织语言的能力。

5、紧张的情绪

紧张情绪的来源又包括很多方面。例如有的考生一见考官就紧张，导致说话吞吞吐吐，这样自然的反应需要考生自己克服;有的考生对自己“要求过高”，哪怕一点点小的语法错误都会过于敏感，并一再纠结，导致自己无法集中到后面的回答中，但其实考官看的是考生整体的表现，后面有好的表现完全可以将前面小小的失误弥补;也有的考生从头到尾都害怕自己出错，小心翼翼，畏畏缩缩，完全没有将自己应有的水平发挥出来。以上种种原因造成考生的紧张情绪，说话变得不自然，流利度也大受影响。在这样的情况下，自信的态度才是克服紧张情绪的方法。

I am a third year master major in automation at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, P. R. China. With tremendous interest in Industrial Engineering, I am writing to apply for acceptance into your Ph.D. graduate program.

Education background

In 1995, I entered the Nanjing University of Science &Technology (NUST) -- widely considered one of the China’s best engineering schools. During the following undergraduate study, my academic records kept distinguished among the whole department. I was granted First Class Prize every semester,In 1999, I got the privilege to enter the graduate program waived of the admission test.

At the period of my graduate study, my overall GPA(3.77/4.0) ranked top 5% in the department. In the second semester, I became teacher assistant that is given to talented and matured students only. When a sophomore, I joined the Association of AI Enthusiast and began to narrow down my interest for my future research. With the tool of OpenGL and Matlab, I designed a simulation program for transportation scheduling system. It is now widely used by different research groups in NUST. I assumed and fulfilled a sewage analysis &dispose project for Nanjing sewage treatment plant. This was my first practice to convert a laboratory idea to a commercial product.

In retrospect, I find myself standing on a solid basis in both theory and experience, which has prepared me for the Ph.D. program. My future research interests include: Network Scheduling Problem, Heuristic Algorithm research (especially in GA and Neural network), Supply chain network research, Hybrid system performance analysis with Petri nets and Data Mining.
